This was a good day for Oasis City! One of the big challenges with this style of mapping is the perspective of the map, so there was a lot of fixes in this stream. The city is coming together nicely, and I’m looking forward to finishing it then developing an encounter zone for it!
A few days ago, I wrote a lengthy article about Nomads in Cyberpunk. Why? Because while Nomads are a perennial favourite role in the game, they’ve always been more challenging than other roles in the game for several reasons this article will explore. Except then I had an epiphany about Nomads while driving home, because apparently after midnight on a highway is where you have these realizations. So let’s talk about Nomads.
Day 3 sees us getting into the weeds a bit around the world building for this desert city! The upper city area is replaced by palm trees, and there’s a fun interlude where I go down the rabbit hole of palm trees, their fruit, and more! Overall I think the city comes out better than it was and actually has some supports to how people can survive there.
Earlier this year, I gave a Rank S rating to R. Talsorian Games’ new edition of Cyberpunk, Cyberpunk RED. One of my criticisms was that there wasn’t enough name brand gear in it, and that this kind of let the consumerism driven, style over substance vibe of the setting. And shortly after that? Black Chrome was announced. 170 items to survive on the fallout dusted streets of Night City. So how is this supplement, and does it stand with the bar set in Cyberpunk 2020’s Chrome Book series?
